Activity
Meet your guide at the activity base in Sautens for this hiking excursion on the Ötztal Trek. Organised according to age and ability, this full day (6 hours) trip traverses the ‘Ocean to Alps’ route (1-5) from Ötztal-Bahnhof to Amberger Hütte - passing through some of the finest mountain scenery in the Tyrol at altitudes of up to 3,000m! With over three thousand crests and ridges to explore, most of your time will be spent exploring the vast valleys – peeking your head into quaint lodges and following streams to their source. Sometimes the route can be covered in ice– turning a leisurely hike into an extreme mountaineering adventure! An average 55km nature trail that passes Bachfallferner glacier fields, you will have regular chances to stop and soak in the views, stopping for a picnic lunch at altitude before you make your descent back down to base where you will return to the activity centre and your adventure will end.
Conditions
The Ötztal Trek 1-5 can be as easy or as difficult as you want: each of the stages has an access and exit point so that you can choose to complete as many or as few of them as you wish. Organised in accordance with your guide, correct walking shoes and poles are recommended.
