Join a thrilling jeep safari through the beautiful Sutjeska National Park in Bosnia and Herzegovina from Foča. Welcoming adventurers from ages 3 and up!
Sutjeska is the oldest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the southeastern part of the country, near the border with Montenegro. It is known for its pristine wilderness, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. Foča is a town located in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Drina River, approximately 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) northwest of Sutjeska, serving as one of the main entry points to the park.
For this jeep adventure, you’ll start by meeting the experienced guide at the base camp in Bosnia (if you’re coming from Bosnia, you can also be picked up from Foča town). After getting comfortable inside the 4x4 Jeep, you’ll begin driving towards the canyon of the Drina River, one of the deepest in Europe. Then, you’ll ascend to Prijeđel, a small village situated in the mountainous region of northwestern Montenegro. From here you’ll have a breathtaking view of the Tjentište War Memorial Complex, built to commemorate the Battle of Sutjeska, one of the largest and most significant battles fought in Yugoslavia during World War II.
After admiring the view, you’ll drive to Tjentište Village, home to the Sutjeska National Park. The park is renowned for its natural beauty, with mountains, forests, rivers, and diverse flora and fauna. You’ll arrive at Dragoš Sedlo, which overlooks the Skakavac Waterfall and Perućica, the only rainforest in Europe. Then, you’ll drive up the mountain pass Prijevor, one of the most impressive viewpoints of the park. You’ll have a view of Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and visit mountain cottages, and hunting and military viewpoints.
Get up close to nature, breathing in the scent of mountain herbs and discovering hidden gems. You’ll enjoy a delicious packed lunch while taking in the natural surroundings. The guide will also share stories about the area - Sutjeska National Park holds a lot of historical significance due to the Battle of Sutjeska during World War II. After exploring the off-road routes that are only accessible by the versatile Jeep, you’ll drive back to the base camp in Bosnia.
