Discover ice climbing on the magnificent frozen waterfall of Wasa Lake in Abitibi-Témiscamingue!
A few kilometres from Rouyn-Noranda, Abitibi Base Camp invites you to discover ice climbing. This unusual activity, which is very common in Quebec, consists of taking advantage of winter and freezing temperatures to climb a completely frozen waterfall.
Assured by your instructor, the ice climbing will take place in optimal conditions thanks to the equipment that guarantees maximum safety. Discover the 25m waterfall of the Wasa lake in complete serenity. The particularity of the latter is that it forms early, from autumn, to be one of the last waterfalls still frozen in spring. So you can enjoy ice climbing almost all year round!
After a briefing on ice climbing, you can start the climb with the help of your instructor. Once at the top of the waterfall, you will be able to admire a panorama of the entire Abitibi-Témiscamingue region! You will be facing snow-covered forests and neighbouring lakes that are completely frozen. During the activity, you will climb the waterfall as many times as you want in order to find the way that suits you best.
