Alongside an enthusiastic guide who will be delighted to show you around the Upper Gatineau Valley, you will enjoy a great day out that includes 3 stops at various sites of interest in the region.

Picked up in Gatineau or Ottawa, you will take a shuttle bus up the Gatineau River to your first activity, a kayaking excursion on the Picanoc River. For 2.5 hours, you will have the time to paddle along a 5 km stretch of the river, taking breaks on the beaches along the way. It is a refreshing way to start the day before making your next stop at Mont Morissette Regional Park! You will climb to the very top of the park's observation tower, 18 metres high, for a 360° view of the surrounding area with its many lakes, including the superb Blue Sea Lake. This will be followed by a lunch break prepared by a local café in the tower, and finally the return to Gatineau and Ottawa with a gourmet stop for ice cream in Chelsea on the way.

With a small group of no more than 14 participants, this day's kayak excursion on the Picanoc River and visit to the Mont Morissette observation tower, departing from Gatineau-Ottawa, will give you a warm welcome to the heart of the Upper Gatineau Valley in the Outaouais region!

Practical information

A 7.5-hour excursion in the Outaouais region, including a 5 km kayak trip down the Picanoc River and a visit to the Mont Morissette observation tower.

Course of events

- Pick-up at your hotel in Gatineau / Ottawa (list of hotels concerned in the special conditions below) or go directly to the intersection of rue Wellington and rue Laval in Gatineau

- Shuttle bus journey to the partner canoeing base (about 1 hour and 15 minute drive)

- Equipment with a briefing on the course, safety instructions and paddle handling

- Departure for a 2.5-hour self-guided kayak trip down 5 km of the Picanoc River

- Returning to the base and de-equipping

- Journey to the Mont Morissette observation tower (about a 25-minute drive)

- Climb to the top of the tower, at an altitude of around 18 metres/1,200 feet, with lunch prepared by a local café

- Return to Gatineau, with a stop at La Cigale (about 1 hour and 15 minute drive) for an ice cream on the way

- Drop-off at the pick-up point in Gatineau or Ottawa and end of the activity

Activity requirements

Maximum weight per kayak: 250 pounds (113 kg)

Children must be accompanied by an adult and be old enough to remain in a seated position for the entire duration of the excursion (excluding breaks at the riverside beaches).
