Dare to explore the north of Fuerteventura on a guided hike to the top of the volcano Montaña Escanfraga, the highest volcano on Fuerteventura!
If you want to travel to the Canary Islands but can't decide what kind of tourism you want to do, Fuerteventura is the island for you! Do you fancy a week's holiday in the sun on huge white sandy beaches and turquoise waters? Come to Fuerteventura! With 150 km of beaches in total, Fuerteventura is the perfect island for those who are looking for paradisiacal beaches without leaving Spain. Do you want to surf, windsurf or kitesurf? Fuerteventura! The Canary Island has some of the best windsurfing beaches in Europe thanks to its location in the middle of the Atlantic and its strong winds. But that's not all, it's also an ideal destination for hiking lovers: the routes through the desert landscapes of the interior and its extensive dunes will leave you speechless. For all these reasons, the island is one of the Biosphere Reserves of the Canary Islands.
Fuerteventura was the first island of the Canary Islands archipelago to emerge from the Atlantic Ocean, but for millennia there have been no volcanic eruptions on the island, hence its flat and eroded landscapes. Even so, there are mountains and craters that remind us of the island's volcanic past. NaTOURal Adventure offers you a hiking route to the top of the volcano Montaña Escanfraga, the highest volcano on Fuerteventura.
The Escanfraga Mountain is situated in the north of Fuerteventura in Villaverde, a village in the municipality of La Oliva and only 20 minutes from Corralejo. That's why the NaTOURal Adventure instructor will pick you up at your accommodation if you are in the area of Caleta de Fuste or Corralejo to take you to the base of the volcano. After a short introduction about the route and the itinerary you will follow, you will start the excursion on an easily accessible track called the "Camel Route". It is a 2.5 km track of moderate difficulty, with only a slight incline to cross the caldera. But, after the effort... surprise! You will reach the top of the volcano, at an altitude of 529 metres, from where you will enjoy breathtaking views of Corralejo, Lobos, the magnificent dunes of the Corralejo Natural Park, the Tindaya mountain, some 20 other old volcanoes and you will even be able to see Lanzarote! We promise you will be left speechless.
It is a guided hiking tour of about 4/5 hours, during which the professional guide, Damiano, who knows all the ins and outs of the area, will tell you about the history of the volcanoes of the island, as well as the fauna and flora that you will encounter along the way. You will also stop at the highest point to rest, recharge your batteries and, of course, take photos.
Come hihking to the top of the Escanfraga Mountain volcano, a different way of getting to know the north of Fuerteventura that you will love!
