You may have always heard of Gran Canaria for its magnificent beaches, but on this Canary Island you will also find mountains with beautiful landscapes and perfect places for climbing such as the Tamadaba Natural Park or the Pico de las Nieves. Very close to Pico de las Nieves is the Monolito de Roque Nublo, one of the best climbing areas in Gran Canaria, as it offers routes for all levels, from beginners to more advanced and with spectacular views of the island. So, do you dare to climb Roque Nublo?
Climbing is a traditional mountaineering activity, and you'll be surprised how far you can go with the help of professional guides. Climbing requires more technique than strength. No previous experience is required, just a basic level of fitness and no fear of heights. The instructors will teach you the fundamental positions and techniques for climbing a rock wall always using a rope for safety.
For this activity is rock climbing on Roque Nublo, you will meet the Yukan instructors in the municipality of La Culata, near Tejeda. From there you will walk 10 minutes to the Roque Nublo mountain, the chosen climbing area, where you will be equipped with all the climbing gear: helmet, harness, cat feet ..... Then, the guides will explain the climbing technique, the use of the material... and you are ready to start climbing! The wall has a height of 70 metres, it seems a lot but don't worry, it's an initiation level. The instructors will adapt the activity according to your level, so they will choose the area that best suits your fitness level. You will climb in the middle of a pine forest with views of the rest of the Roque Nublo mountains until you reach the top where you will enjoy a breathtaking sunset view!
