Nothing compares to exploring the underwater life in Crete. An amazing island, with a great variety of marine life and diving destinations will take your diving explorations to the next level. Stay Wet diving centre offers daily dives for experienced divers in different spots that will simply amaze you!
You will have a quick introduction in the diving centre concerning the the diving spots, their history and the marine life you are about to explore. The PADI certified instructors speak French, English, German, Dutch or Greek so communication will be easy. Underwater you will be able to take a closer look to the inhabitants of the Mediterranean sea like sponges, sea stars, octopus, snails, different kind of fishes and with a little bit of luck you will also see dolphins, barracudas or seahorses.
The diving spots
Stay Wet have discovered many unique spots around Heraklion. The dives usually take place in Mononaftis, Agia Pelagia or Hersonissos. Wrecks, Reefs, Cavers, Walls and many more await for you to live the unknown.
The dives are conducted from shore!
Mononaftis: Mononaftis in Greek means the lonely sailor. It is a very big area with different spots to dive in with a depth ranging from 18 to 35 metres. It is an ideal dive for Open Water of Advanced Open Water divers. During this dive you will pass along a colourful reef, through small canyons and big holes, discover small caves and investigate the many cavities under the rocks. You will be seeing octopuses, see moray eels and conger eels, cuttlefish, squids, shrimps, snappers, crabs, even sea horses and a special, very beautiful kind of night-active sea anemone.
Agia Pelagia: In Agia Pelagia the best diving spot is the El Greco Cave. It is a 30 m. long cave, ideal for experienced divers. The entrance to the cave can be found at 17 m. deep with a gradual passage to the cave. Once inside you will be surprised with the big stalagmites and stalactites. At the rear end you will find a vertical siphon (opening). By using a rope you will ascend through the tunnel until you reach the cave's top which includes an air-filled room. You can enjoy the view at the top and take awesome photos. The El Greco cave is for Advanced Open Water divers.For the Open Water divers there is a magnificent reef around with cavities and a great variety of fish. You will also find the Messerscmitt Wreck, a WWII wreck for the wreck lovers around 20 minutes away from Agia Pelagia.
Hersonissos: Beautiful reefs and caverns to explore for the Open Water divers in Hersonissos with maximum depths at 25m. -30m.
