Location
Risnjak National Park is located in Gorski Kotar, the most mountainous and heavily forested region of the country, about 15 km inland from the Adriatic Sea and the Dalmatian island of Krk. The park covers an area of 63.5 square kilometres including the central part of Risnjak and Snježnik massif and the source area of the river Kupa.
Activity
Meet your guide at the foot of the mountain for this hiking excursion in Risnjak National Park. A fun and informative way of discovering a natural landscape lesser known by tourists, this full day trek and trail follows a route that leads to the area’s highest peaks at Veliki Risnjak and Snjeznik. A region that has been left to nature, this densely forested national park is packed with biodiversity – and is home to endemic flora and fauna that includes wolves, brown bears and lynx! Follow your guide along a marked woodland path – visiting sun-bathed meadows, numerous springs, streams, magnificent hills and mountains and wonderful vistas that include the Hrvatsko Primorje region, Gorski Kotar, and if you are lucky and the weather is perfect, you just might see the Alps, too! Suitable for groups of friends and families alike – routes can be organised to cover trails that take up to 8 hours to complete, stopping for lunch at turquoise lakes and stopping to take in the views. Once you have completed the tour, your shuttle will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation in Krk.
