Experience the beauty of the Arctic at night on an enjoyable dog sledding excursion beneath the magical Northern Lights from Rovaniemi.

Experience the beauty of the Arctic at night on an enjoyable dog sledding excursion beneath the magical Northern Lights from Rovaniemi. Welcoming participants of all ages on this family-friendly adventure!

Rovaniemi is the largest city in Lapland, situated in northern Finland. Due to its proximity to the Arctic Circle, the region also has typical Arctic features, including snowy forests and landscapes in the winter months, unique wildlife native to the area, and dark, starry evenings. In the remote locations away from light pollution, it is also one of the best places to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights!

This excursion begins at the starting point in Rovaniemi (pickup is available within a 15km driving distance), where you will meet your experienced guide. The tour takes place in the evening after the sun has set, when the Lappish winter night becomes shrouded in darkness. The guide will bring you to meet the friendly husky dogs native to the area, before it’s time for your sleigh ride adventure!

You will receive a safety briefing and get set up in a comfortable sled, which will be pulled by a team of dogs. Under the instruction of the guide, the Huskies will pull your sled across the snow-covered terrain and into the stunning wilderness. You will enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the forest at nighttime. As you ride, the night sky will come alive with the light from the moon and thousands of stars. If you’re lucky, the mesmerising dance of the Aurora Borealis will also appear in the sky above you.

After the dog sledding adventure, you will return to the starting point. When you return, a delicious campfire barbeque meal will be served. Enjoy a traditional meal of Lappish chicken sausage, grilled corn, marshmallows and hot blueberry juice (vegetarian/vegan alternative available upon request) while you warm up around an open fire. As you continue to admire the Northern Lights, your guide will share tales about this natural phenomenon, as well as stories about life in Lapland. When you have finished, the guide will transport you back to Rovaniemi.

This thrilling dog sledding excursion is the perfect adventure for the whole family to discover the beauty of Finnish nature while witnessing the amazing Northern Lights from Rovaniemi.
