High mountain guides with in-depth knowledge of the Vanoise massif are waiting to help you discover ice climbing in Val Thorens, on an icefall measuring between 20 and 35 metres high, at an altitude of over 2,000 metres. Whether you have never climbed an ice wall before or you are passionate about the sport, this half-day session will allow you to enjoy the activity to the full, under the watchful eye of a guide to ensure your safety.

You will reach the site of your ice climbing discovery session in Val Thorens using the resort's ski lifts (you will need a Trois Vallées ski pass), accompanied by your mountain guide who will provide you with all the equipment you need for the activity once you are there: harness, helmet, ice axes, belay device and a pair of mountaineering boots with crampons. In total, you will spend 3.5 hours having fun climbing the icefall in the heart of the Vanoise massif, in a small group of no more than 8 people to get the most out of the experience!

Accessible to young people in good physical condition from the age of 12, this discovery of ice climbing in Val Thorens in Les Trois Vallées will provide you with superb moments with your family or friends this winter!

Practical information

Course of events

- Meeting with your mountain guide at the Maison des Guides et de la Montagne in Val Thorens

- Walk and ski lifts trip up to the icefall at an altitude of 2,450 metres (you will need a Trois Vallées ski pass)

- Distribution and fitting of equipment, followed by a briefing on the activity and safety instructions

- Start of the 3.5-hour discovery of ice climbing in Val Thorens

- Return of equipment at the end of the session, then return to Val Thorens to complete the activity

Activity requirements

A minimum number of 4 participants is required for this activity to take place.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

You will need to purchase the Trois Vallées ski pass to be able to reach the activity site.
