Start your trekking adventure from Perivoli, a village that lies 43 km west of Grevena. Note that in order to reach the trekking path, you need first an off-road vehicle.
You will then have a stop-over at the “Stavrós” location to enjoy a panoramic view over the valley. Upon reaching a natural spring (where usually the shepherds bring their flocks to drink water), you will realise that at this point the dirt road ends. You will continue on foot the trail enjoying great views to the valley and the nature.
In the highlands of Valia Calda, visitors are likely to spot brown bears ambling down to Arkoudórema (meaning Bear Creek) to drink water. Don't get scared however! It's totally safe. Your instructors will ensure you are in a safe distance from dangerous animals.
The Valia Calda reserve is a unique ecosystem, and a safe refuge to several mammals (wolf, fox, wild hog and mountain antelope), rare bird species (the golden eagle and the black stork) as well as reptiles.

Practical information
Starting from the meeting point at the square of Perivoli village in an hour driving with the jeep you arrive in Stavros. First stop.
You will continue by cars up to the valley and the area of Arkoydorema. Hiking take place at valley of Valia Calda with beautiful scenery the dense and lush vegetation, towering pine trees and rich fauna.
The park of Valia Calda consists of black pine, some oak clusters, some people red pine and the larch vitiligo, Valia Calda springs Aoos a tributary which flow the foaming waters in the middle of the valley.
You will walk along the river to get to the bridge that allows to pass on the opposite bank. You will enjoy the landscape and then follow the path that will lead you to the waterfalls and then get back to the car.
