This dry-suit diving course near Reykjavik is aimed at experienced divers who want to discover Silfra while improving their skills. In 2 days, the course will give you all the elements you need to validate your Dry suit diver certification.
The first day of the PADI course begins with theory lessons. Unlike conventional wetsuits, drysuits are filled with air. During your drysuit course, your instructor will teach you how to control the air in your suit and your buoyancy. You'll practise being underwater and test all the new skills you've learnt in a swimming pool. Later, the open water dive will take place in a protected lake or ocean site in the Reykjavik region (Lake Kleifarvatn or Lake Thingvallavatn (Davidsgjá)). With 1 guide for a maximum of 3 people, you'll have plenty of support to help you progress safely.
Then, on the 2nd day of your PADI dry suit diving course in Reykjavik, you'll experience the moment you've been waiting for: a guided dive in the Silfra rift! In the rift, you can dive with your guide for around 30 minutes to discover this underwater site with unrivalled visibility! The maximum depth divers are allowed to go to in Silfra is 18 meters. For your comfort, you'll be wearing a quality Fourth Element wetsuit. Diving the Silfra Rift is a great way to test your new diving skills near Reykjavik. It's also an opportunity to discover the sublime Thingvellir National Park!

Practical information
Each dive lasts around 30 minutes.
Day 1
- Expert diving instructors teach you how to safely dive in a Dry Suit. You'll also learn about diving theory, how to communicate underwater and how to manage your equipment.
- You'll practice being underwater and test all the new knowledge that you have gained followed by open water training dives in a swimming pool
- Later, the open water diving will take place in a lake or protected ocean site in the Reykjavik area (Lake Kleifarvatn or Lake Thingvallavatn (Davidsgjá))
Day 2
- Guided dive in Silfra
In order to participate in this course, you must have an Open Water dive certification or higher.
You also must be able to swim independently without a lifejacket, and you must be comfortable in the water.
Finally, it is important that you can both understand and communicate in English.
Because of the dry suit sizes, there are height-weight limitations. You also need to be able to carry your full dive gear for about 250 meters.
Minimum height: 150 cm (4’9) / Minimum weight : 45 kg (99 lbs)
Maximum height : 200 cm (6’5) / Maximum weight : 120 kg (265 lbs)

We also recommend that you are physically fit and healthy if you have some medical issues, please check this health certificate and get physician approval if needed.
You are not able to participate in the diving tour if you are pregnant.
You can bring a camera, but it is recommend to have a waterproof one if you want to have it in the water with you.
It is not possible to take part in the activity wearing glasses: if you have a prescription mask, please bring it with you. If not, we advise you to wear contact lenses before joining the guide.
