Portugal's most famous island in the Atlantic Ocean is Madeira, known for its stunning scenery and tropical climate. Within this island is the popular hiking route to the Levada do Caldeirão Verde, half an hour from Ponta Delgada. This route will take you on a trail to its enchanting green caldera surrounded by cliffs. You will have the opportunity to discover its lush landscape and its dazzling waterfalls, going through the Laurisilva forests characterised by its evergreen trees.

The guides will pick you up from your accommodation to take you on this fantastic adventure through the lost forests in the middle of the Atlantic. On this 13 kilometres route you will be surrounded by the fantastic fauna and flora characteristic of Madeira and will last for 4 hours. The landscapes you will visit will contain a heterogeneous path, with slopes and levadas, typical Madeiran irrigation channels. This trail requires a moderate level of fitness due to its length.
The starting point of this circular hiking route to the Levada do caldeirão Verde will start at Quemaidas near Santana, it will continue along the canal that carries water from the wetter to the drier areas. The hike will progress through Laurisilva forests and tunnels carved into the rock that add a unique dimension to the route. You will cross small bridges over streams and ravines with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. To finish the tour you will reach the famous Caldeirão Verde waterfall surrounded by cliffs. The return to the starting point will be on foot.
