Come and discover or rediscover kitesurfing on the south-western lagoon of Mauritius, at the foot of Morne Brabant and its breathtaking landscapes!
Kitesurfing is an unmissable water sport at the tip of Le Morne in Mauritius! With winds blowing from 5 to 10 knots more than the other spots on the island, the lagoon around Le Morne is a privileged place to start or improve your kitesurfing. You will benefit from group lessons in small groups of 2 people maximum per instructor, allowing you to receive quality teaching in an environment with optimal conditions, in water between 23 and 27°C all year round.
You will learn to kitesurf in a safe environment, with a good mood and obvious progress! On average, 6 to 10 hours of lessons are necessary with Le Morne Kite School to become autonomous in kitesurfing. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced kiteboarder, whether you want to learn tricks or other tips and tricks in Freestyle or Wave, your instructor will adapt to your level and your ambitions! It's up to you to see what you need to have a great time kitesurfing in Le Morne!
For beginners
You will take your first steps in kitesurfing on the spot located slightly south of the tip of Le Morne, formed by an almost closed bay ideal for learning.
The lessons start with the theory and the safety rules. You will first learn the key and elementary skills in kitesurfing: the correct movements and how to react in the different situations you may face while riding.
You will then learn how to prepare your kite, helm, harness, and safety systems, as well as how to analyze the current conditions (wind direction and risks). Then, you'll move on to the most fun part: practice! The goal is to spend as much time as possible in the water.
Beginner lessons consist of several kite control exercises: piloting, towing and more advanced exercises as you go. Instructors ensure that students have a thorough understanding of the flight window and power zone.
Once you are comfortable and confident in all aspects of the board, it is time to stand up on the board. You will learn how to control the kite and the board before practicing your first tacks, upwind, turn around without falling and maybe try your first jumps!
For experienced kiters
Le Morne lagoon is a large turquoise flat to choppy lagoon, the perfect playground for freestyle/freeride kitesurfing! Wave lovers will not be left out with three reef waves near Le Morne, on the coral reef:
- Little Reef (or Inner Reef) behind the flat area of the point: an accessible wave, but not to be underestimated in case of big swell;
- One Eye (north), only for experienced riders : a fast world class wave that breaks right on the reef (One Eye is famous for its tubular waves);
- Manawa (south), an impressive wave by its size and which breaks quite far from the shore: it looks like a big swell which breaks quite nicely, unlike One Eye.
And if you want to progress even faster, opt for a private kitesurfing lesson!
