Explore Europe's deepest canyon system on this rafting adventure down the Tara in Durmitor National Park.
Driving further along the Tara River guests will reach our starting rafting point - Splavište. Prior to starting off the descent, guests will be introduced to all the safety and emergency procedures and will be given a brief course in rafting and all the necessary equipment.
After the briefing, the rafting tour will start with a length of 14km. During the rafting guests will have an opportunity to see the shortest and (depending on the season) the most powerful river in Europe -Ljutica, as well as the famous Djurdjevica Bridge – an architectural marvel of its time. Passing through the National Park Durmitor we will arrive at the place Žugic Luka, which is the first raft camp on the Tara River, where our rafting ends.
After completing the rafting, the guests will be brought to the starting point with our vehicles.
Conditions
Water levels vary on the Tara River, with its highest level in April & May when rapids reach class IV, V and sometimes even level VI. Late September and early October are when the water level is at its lowest with class III rapids. Please refer to the river grading system below.
Class III: Rapids with moderate, irregular waves, strong eddies and powerful currents
Class IV: Intense, powerful but predictable rapids requiring precise boat handling in turbulent water
Class V: Extremely long, obstructed, or very violent rapids which expose a paddler to added risk.
