Northern Norway's picturesque Lofoten Archipelago is located within the Arctic Circle and is characterized by its numerous islands, majestic fjords, and diverse species of wildlife. Situated on the shores of the Norwegian Sea, Ballstad is one of the largest fishing villages in Lofoten and is the perfect place to explore the Arctic waters!
Your adventure begins at the Diving Centre in Ballstad, where you will be greeted by your PADI-certified instructor who will provide a safety and itinerary briefing. For this excursion, scuba divers can choose between using the centre's gear or bringing their own. Either way, after you've put on your scuba diving equipment, you and your group (a maximum of 8 participants) will depart for the diving site in the Lofoten Archipelago. Although the exact diving spot varies depending on the weather conditions, each diving site is ideal not only for experienced divers but also for beginners who have their Openwater certificate.
Depending on the location of the dive, you will get to see beautiful kelp forests, fields of algae, graceful Arctic jellyfish, urchins, starfish, and several large fish species that reside in Northern Norway such as halibut, cod, wolffish, and flounder. The Lofoten Archipelago is also famed for its numerous shipwrecks, which make for amazing diving spots that you may be able to explore! At the end of the excursion, you'll return to the Diving Centre in Ballstad and will be treated to a hot cup of coffee or tea. The perfect way to end an incredible time in the Lofoten Archipelago!
