Admire Norway's incredible scenery on a fun-filled boat tour to Balestrand from Bergen with a delicious cider-tasting tour and lunch!

This trip departs from Bergen, a charming city located on the west coast of Norway. Known for its famous harbour, colourful wooden houses, and surrounding mountains, Bergen is often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Fjords.' You'll travel to Balestrand, another picturesque village located on the northern shore of the Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord.

Your adventure begins at the starting point in Bergen, where you'll meet your experienced guide. Then, you and your group will board a comfortable minibus and set off towards the village of Vik, with a short stop to pick up passengers in Voss. You'll traverse the stunning mountainous landscapes of the Vikafjell passage and stop at the Storesvingen viewpoint to take in the breathtaking panorama and snap a few photos.

The next stop on the tour is the renowned Hopperstad stave church. Constructed in 1130, it is one of the oldest surviving churches of its kind. Your friendly and knowledgeable guide is happy to share stories and fascinating facts about this cultural and architectural gem. Upon arrival in Vik, you'll board a boat for a picturesque 30-minute cruise on the Sognefjord to Balestrand. When you arrive in Balestrand, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch, you'll head to a charming, family-run cider house called the Ciderhuset where you'll be treated to 5 cider samples (non-alcoholic cider options are also available). They produce a variety of organic ciders, fruit wines, and brandy onsite. You'll learn all about cider production and the region's storied history, as apple trees have bloomed there since the Viking era.

After your cider tasting, you'll have 1.5 hours of free time to explore beautiful Balestrand before boarding the vessel to return to Vik. Then, you'll be driven to the remarkable Tvindefossen Waterfall, which measures 110 metres (360 feet). Your tour guide will share the legends and myths associated with this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. At the end of the trip, you'll return to the starting point in Bergen with memories that will last a lifetime!

The tasting was fun and the cidery itself was interesting. The town though was dead. All of the shops were closed so I ended up sitting in the hotel just waiting around to get picked up. The bus driver was excellent though! Navigating the narrow roads and was super polite and friendly.
