The low mountain forests typical of Northern Norway (pine and birch) are situated near the town of Bodø. Near to lakes and mountains, the valleys offer slightly rugged terrain and some hills. Approx. 20 km by minibus or car each way to reach the starting point, Bodø is a great place to experience the northern lights. The area's main charm lies in its backdrop of distant rugged peaks and vast skies. The Børvasstindan mountain range offers both hiking and climbing opportunities and the Bodømarka forest is great for skiing in the wintertime and long walks in the summer season.
