Head out on a snowmobile excursion to the mountain Templet and its surrounding fjords for a historical journey around Svalbard's ancient mountainous landscapes! With a total driving distance of approximately 70 km (43 miles) on mostly flat terrain, this 6-hour outing makes for a perfect introductory expedition on the island of Svalbard.
The adventure begins with a pick-up at your accommodation in the direction of the base, to gear up and discover the snowmobiles. You will be provided with helmets and all the necessary thermal equipment to keep you safe and warm throughout the journey. Then, drivers will be shown the ropes of how to snowmobile, including the hand signals drivers need to learn to ensure a safe journey.
Then, out you will go into the wilderness. This expedition takes you all the way to Elveneset, visiting frozen waterfalls and mountains along the way. The beautiful mountain Templet is a highlight of this itinerary. Its temple-like structure earns it the title of "world's most beautiful mountain", and its surrounding terrain tells a vivid story of the geological history of the island of Svalbard.
Your guide will tell you everything there is to know about this fascinating stretch of mountainous terrain and fjord arms over hot drinks and biscuits, that they will bring to warm you up mid-way through the excursion.
