The tour will begin at the starting point in Voss, where you will meet your experienced guide. Your guide will make sure you have the required clothing and go through the plan for the day. As the group is small, with a maximum of 6 participants, there will be the opportunity to adapt the itinerary to the group’s wishes and abilities. No skiing or hiking experience is necessary for this tour, the guide will teach you everything. The cross-country skis, poles and goggles will then be distributed, before setting off on your cross-country skiing adventure!

You will travel to either Raundalen or Voss Resort. To reach Raundalen, you will take a low-impact train to the secluded valley. This area features wild and unspoilt mountain nature. The magnificent Raundalen River winds its way through this winter wonderland. For Voss Resort, you will take the Voss Gondola, a secure cable car which travels up to Mount Hanguren, featuring impressive panoramic views. You will exit the Gondola 820 meters above sea level straight into the cool, crisp mountain air. Once you arrive at the destination, the skiing will begin.

The day will start on easy terrain learning the basics of cross-country skiing. The guide will show you the techniques as you master the basics in the trail tracks along the valley. Cross-country skiing is one of the oldest cultural traditions in Norway when it comes to winter lifestyle in the outdoors. Traditionally, cross-country skiing is how Norwegians have moved through winter landscape for thousands of years. Once you feel more comfortable, you will gradually leave the groomed trails and venture into the wilderness. Here, you may be lucky to spot some deer, elks, grouse and other wild animals. Your guide will teach you some harder skills if you wish.

After you have practised, you will take a break for lunch. Your guide will show you how to build a campfire in the wild. You will enjoy a light meal and some hot drinks while taking in the stillness of the forest. Your guide will also be happy to share facts and insights about Norwegian culture and how to survive in the winter wilderness. You will then enjoy some more time skiing in the pristine nature and deep snow, before returning to the starting point in Voss again by train or Gondola.
