Sainte-Suzanne canyon is THE canyon for beginners and families located in the north-east part of the Réunion Island. Accompanied by an experienced instructor, you can go through a part or the entire canyon, as you wish.
The first part of the canyon is called "Sainte-Suzanne classique". It is adapted for an initiation and families and can be done in half day. The second part, called "Sainte-Suzanne intégral", is a sporty canyon due to the higher physical condition needed and the fact that it is a long route. A full day is necessary.
The canyon starts with an approach walk of 2 minutes and then a descent in the river with numerous basins. Then, a little abseil allows you to enter the gorgeous "Bassin Nicole". You will continue with a little optional jump in the next pool.
Sainte-Suzanne river crosses a cave for about 20 kilometers and flows into the next basin. After a guided abseil, you will make a break to eat and have some fun with numerous jumps to do.
Finally, it's time for the final pool of the first part of the canyon with a zipline, abseil and jump of 9 meters (optional). The walk until the car park takes about 10 minutes for the "Sainte-Suzanne classique" route.
For the "Sainte-Suzanne intégral" route, you will continue the descent for an additional 2 hours with abseils, a 6 meters jump, a slide, and a giant zipline in the last pool of the canyon!
After all these great emotions at Sainte-Suzanne canyon, you will definitely want to try out other canyons in Réunion Island!
