Embark on a full-day sea kayaking trip to paddle with seals in their natural habitat along the Bohuslän coast. Welcoming adventurers from ages 15 and up!

Bohuslän is a historically rich region located in Western Sweden, home to a stunning archipelago with thousands of islands, islets, and skerries scattered along the rugged coastline. The archipelago is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, with smooth granite cliffs, picturesque fishing villages, and sheltered coves. This location is perfect for seeking natural beauty along Sweden's stunning west coast.

This full-day kayak excursion begins at the starting point in Uddevalla, a picturesque town in the Bohuslän region. You’ll meet your experienced guide, who will provide all of the kayak equipment (kayak, paddle, cockpit cover and life jacket). No prior kayaking experience is needed for this activity. Don’t forget to bring suitable clothing (quick drying synthetic or woollen shirt, bathing trunks, wind jacket) and shoes (water resistant sandals, neoprene shoes or Crocs) for paddling.

The guide will transfer you to the kayaking location in Bohuslän - Havstensfjord. They will start by going through a safety briefing and instructions for paddling. Once you feel comfortable, you’ll set off in search of seals! Havstensfjord is a scenic fjord located in Bohuslän, characterised by its deep blue waters, rocky cliffs, forests, and small islands. The fjord is protected from westerly winds by Orust, so the water is usually calm, perfect conditions for beginners! Approximately 12,000 harbour seals live along the Bohuslän coast, so the chances of spotting some of the fjord’s seal colony are high. As you paddle, the guide will share facts about any other flora and fauna you encounter.

Havstensfjord is also Sweden’s densest area, due to blue mussel farms evenly spread out on the water, offering a food source for the birds. If you’re lucky, you may spot a white-tailed sea eagle circling in the sky above, as well as the many other bird species that frequent this area. Midway through the excursion, you’ll stop for a coffee break and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. At the end of the trip, you’ll paddle back to the start and be transferred to the original meeting point in Uddevalla.

Don’t miss this enjoyable day trip to discover the natural habitats of Havstensfjord in Bohuslän in a comfortable sea kayak!
