Idre is a village situated in Dalarna County in central Sweden. The area is surrounded by mesmerising natural beauty, with sparkling lakes, rolling hills, picturesque rivers, and dense forests. On a whitewater kayaking excursion, you’ll be fully immersed in the stunning landscapes of the region!

For this activity, you can choose from a half-day or full-day course. The course is suitable for beginners, no prior kayaking experience is needed. The adventure begins at the meeting point in Idre (please note that the meeting points differ for the half-day or full-day option). You’ll meet the certified instructor, who will provide the kayaking equipment, including a wet suit, a life jacket, a helmet, a sturdy kayak, and a paddle. The group is small, with a maximum of 5 participants, to ensure a personalised experience!

The course will start with a theoretical and safety briefing. The instructor will teach you all of the basics of paddling. After learning about the equipment and its use, you’ll set off practising the techniques across flat water. After getting comfortable on the gently flowing water, you’ll stop for a break. You’ll enjoy a hot coffee on the half-day course, or a delicious lunch on the full-day course, while taking in the peaceful surroundings of nature.

After the break, you’ll head back out onto the water. On the full-day course, you’ll tackle a more difficult route, paddling on a 4.5 km (2.8 mi) stretch of rapids. The instructor will teach you how to understand the water and which techniques to employ to safely navigate the rapids. As you paddle, you’ll enjoy the amazing views of the surrounding mountains, trees and rocky terrain. At the end of the excursion, you’ll return to the starting point in Idre.
