The sea kayaking adventure begins at the starting point in Renöhamn, a marine harbour in Piteå. You’ll meet the certified nature guide and receive the kayaking equipment (kayak and paddle). No previous kayaking experience is needed for this excursion. You’ll start with a safety briefing and then launch into shallow waters, where the guide will go through some paddling instructions. The group is small, with a maximum of 4 participants, to ensure a genuine ecotourism experience in close harmony with nature. Once you feel comfortable, you’ll begin paddling out to the Piteå archipelago.

The tour begins at dusk, with the sun slowly setting on the horizon behind you, its reflection creating a cascade of colours in purple, red and pink. During the Arctic summer, the midnight sun natural phenomenon occurs in this region. The sun remains visible at midnight, resulting in prolonged daylight hours and periods of continuous daylight. Just before midnight, the sun sinks below the horizon for a few minutes. Then, it begins to rise. After admiring the mesmerising sunset, you’ll turn the kayaks around and begin the return journey.

You’ll stop and enjoy some warm drinks with snacks, and immerse yourself in the experience, taking in the subarctic atmosphere of the bright night. The silence of this northern wilderness and the colours of the sunrise and the sea create an unforgettable experience. The archipelago is also home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna, including various bird species, marine mammals, and plant life. The guide is a naturalist and can share insights about any wildlife that you spot. The tour will then end back at the starting point in Renöhamn.
