Paddle down the Zambezi River, through misty rainbows, deep gorges, and past drinking elephants for a canoeing adventure like no other in Zimbabwe!
The mighty Zambezi River is Africa’s fourth largest river and home to the magnificent Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world! During this canoe safari, as you paddle along the Zambezi’s mystical waters, not only will you be greeted by breathtaking scenery, but you will also get to take in Zimbabwe’s amazing wildlife from the banks of Zambezi National Park! From elephants and buffaloes to impala, kudu, hippo, crocodile and more, this canoeing excursion is the perfect activity for animal lovers! In particular, the birdlife along the river is especially prolific with at least 50 common species of bird that can be seen from your canoe!
To start your Zambezi River canoeing adventure, you will be picked up from your Victoria Falls accommodation and driven to the Adventure Lodge for check-in. From there you will then enjoy a 40 minute game drive upriver, during which you will also be able to spot some wildlife. After a safety and activity briefing, plus a paddling practice session, it is time to begin canoeing down a 15 kilometre stretch of the Zambezi!
Your licensed and fully-trained canoe guide will lead you down various channels of the Zambezi River, with smooth waters offering easy paddling, pointing out the diverse flora, fauna, birdlife, and wildlife in the area. A charming lunch will take place right on the banks of the river, or on one of the islands of the Zambezi, and the canoe tour will end at the Kandahar campsite.
