Practical information
A two-hour beginner SUP lesson starting at the activity centre on Towan Beach, meet your instructor and kit up for a SUP taster lesson. After a water safety briefing and lesson in basic paddle skills, you’ll launch from a sheltered section of coastline into the water and begin your stand-up paddleboard adventure! Skills you will learn include, how to get up and balance on the board, how to hold your paddle, basic strokes, directional changes, tales of the area’s history and information about the wildlife that calls Cornwall's coastline home. Standup paddleboarding in Newquay is quick and easy to learn and, with the basics under your belt, you’ll get to explore the Cornish coastline up close. From the sheltered smugglers' caves of the Gazzle to the harbour and Newquay Bay, Newquay has coastal routes perfect for SUP touring or whitewater SUP surfing!
By the time you step back on dry land, our SUP Lesson & Tour should have transformed you from a complete newbie to a confident paddler within a few short hours. Our experienced instructors will take you through the motions of standing up with a step-by-step guide on balance and control.
