Day 1

You will be picked up in Tromsø city or another place by agreement. You then drive in the direction of the camp. The journey to the camp is an adventure itself. You will drive alongside fjords with fantastic views. When you go over the mountain pass you will pass Norway’s largest island lake. The drive finishes at the Mikkelvika ferry landing, where you take a 10-minute ferry crossing over to Bromnes on the island of Rebbenesøya. Thereafter you have a 15-30-minute walk- or snowshoe trip to the camp.

After settling into your yurt, you start to warm it up and get to fetch water from the nearby stream. You thereafter prepare a light meal. The team plans the evening kayak trip and the next day trip according to the weather forecast, your experience and wishes.

Look forward to the evening's kayak trip. To paddle in the dark is a special experience and if you are lucky, the Northern Lights can suddenly start dancing over your head. Back at the camp, you enjoy a nice dinner and a cozy and relaxing time in a warm yurt either in comfortable chairs in front of the woodfired oven or around a campfire.

Look forward to a nice sleep in the yurt in the super comfortable beds.

Day 2

Next day after breakfast you get ready for a new sea kayaking trip, this time in the daylight of the Arctic winter. This will be a totally different experience from yesterdays kayak trip in darkness. The plan is to be out kayaking half of the day.

The area surrounding the camp offers enormous variety for sea kayaking with wonderful trips of varying lengths and levels. The crystal-clear water makes it possible to study the marine life underneath your kayak. During the trip, you have short breaks where you eat some snacks and get some hot drinks. When you return to the camp the team prepares a nice warm lunch.

The second part of the day you plan all depending on the snow conditions - either hiking or snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. It is possible to do trips directly from the Camp, but you can also choose tracks on the island. The island even has its own trail with light making it easy for cross-country skiing in wintertime.

In the evening, if you still have some energy, you can do another short kayaking trip - maybe with the Northern Lights dancing above your head.

Or, if you prefer, simply relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere at the Camp.

Day 3

After breakfast, you plan to do a sightseeing trip on the island, including breaks underway where you can take photos. You go southwest on the island to Engvika, which is perhaps home to the world’s most beautifully located shop. If conditions allow, you can hike the hills just nearby where you will have a spectacular view of the open sea. From this view, you will be able to see the Island Sørfugløya, towering on the horizon. The Island is well known for the puffin colony. Another beautiful place south on the Island is Måsvik which also offers a beautiful view, with white beaches, clear shallow and green water and lots of small Islands.
You can choose some of the marked routes on the Island, which offer amazing views.
The team either makes lunch during this sightseeing trip and returns directly after the sightseeing trip. Or you return to the camp before preparing a warm lunch and then getting ready to go back Tromsø.

Activity requirements

Please bring warm winter clothes: warm jacket, insulated pans, woollen or other thermal underwear, fleece, a warm hat and gloves. You also need to bring highshafted warm winterboots. We recommend dressing in layers to keep warm. You can borrow thermal suits at the camp. We have spikes and snowshoes and equipment for cross countryskiing.

The guests and the guide/host prepare the meals together. The meals can be prepared in the fully equipped kitchen in the yurts, at the boathouse or outdoors around a camp fire.

While no previous paddling experience is necessary, you must be in medium physical condition. To get to the Camp we have a 15-minute walk on a uneven path along the seashore. Wintertine in periods it might be nesseary to use an litle bit longer alternative route over a hill. During the middle of winter, we walk this stretch in darkness using headtorches, which is very exciting.
