We begin our journey by driving through the Crete vineyards. The villages we will pass through are well-known for their grape varieties and wines, so there will be many well-known wineries along the way.
Our first stop is at Agios Thomas, a 760-meter-high village founded in 1371 AD. There are Byzantine churches, Byzantine aqueduct ruins, and Roman era tombs in the village.
As we descend, we will cross the Messara valley and follow a path through olive groves to the Monastery of ODIGITRIA, one of Crete's most famous monasteries dating back to the 14th century. The beauty of the monastery will astound you, and you will have the opportunity to visit the museum, which contains objects from Cretan daily life.
We arrive at the entrance to Agiofarago via a beautiful dirt road and begin crossing it on foot. Walking through the gorge (with no difficulty level) allows you to get up close and personal with sheep and goats, which are both beautiful and completely harmless. After about 20 minutes of walking, you will arrive at a beach with fine pebbles that will enchant you. It is Southern Crete's paradise.
We arrive in Matala, the famous southern Cretan village where the Hippies lived in the 1970s, after swimming in the crystal clear waters and driving through a beautiful dirt road. You will have free time to admire the village's beauty and visit the Hippie Caves.
Back to Malia at around 4 pm. This journey will astound you and provide you with images that you will remember for the rest of your life.
The meal is not predetermined the driver will ask you some questions regarding your preference and dislike and will provide then a variety of food which each can choose from.
