Course of events

Start your trip in Reykjavik and travel to the erupting Fagradallsfjall volcano amid ancient lava fields. Learn about the geological details of the eruption and the ensuing lava field under the guidance of an experienced geologist or volcanologist. Learn about the Reykjanes Peninsula's volcanic past while keeping an eye out for the first indications of the current eruption.

Along with your guide describing the effects of lava composition on rock formations, see how the dynamic lava field produces new topography. Climb to the crater viewpoint for expansive views of the volcanic surroundings below. The trip takes around three hours overall, with an hour spent exploring the crater viewpoint and lava fields. The hike takes about 1.5 hours each way.

Travel back to Reykjavik via the Reykjanes peninsula's hot springs, lakes, and mountains.
