Practical information
- Full RAID Open Water 20 course.
- Theoretical lessons online and RAID subscription included. The theory course needs to be finished at home before starting the pool session and the dives.
- First dive in pool : Pool sessions will get you used to breathe underwater and learn new skills.
- 2 Ocean shore dives will be done to get you used to ocean diving and sort out most diving skills that need to be done for the course.
- 2 Ocean boat dives to get you totally hooked on Scuba Diving and certified.
- At the end of the course, you will obtain your PADI Open Water certificate allowing you to dive anywhere in the world to depths of 18m.
- Small classes of 4 people maximum
Overall Duration : 3 days of practice (in pool, shore dives, boat dives) and 1 day of theory at home
Day 1
- Do Home study or in the evenings if material have been obtained long beforehand.
Day 2
- 8.30 - Start, prepping all forms, going through homework and get to know equipment.
- 10.30 - Get in the pool, learn and practice skills
- 15.30 - Finish pool sessions and wash equipment
Day 3
- 8.30 - Start and finish theory and exams. Get gear ready.
- 9.30 - Do 1st shore dive
- 11.30 - Do 2nd shore dive
- 13.30 - Wash gear and complete Logbooks
Day 4
- Meet at 8.30 - Get gear ready
- 9.15 - Boat launch or shore dive for 1st dive (note boat launch time can change)
- 11.30 - Boat launch or shore dive for last and final dive
- 14.00 Wash gear, logbooks and certification
Basic swimming skills are required and need to be in good physical form.
- The activity will last between 3 to 4 days depending on the weather condition.
- A medical questionnaire needs to be completed beforehand and if on any of the questions a "Yes" has been marked a doctor sign-off would be needed.
- You cannot fly up to 24 hours after your last scuba dive.
- Transportation can be provided from Cape Town at extra cost (shall be agreed with the instructor).
