Enjoy the company of Siberian husky sled dogs as you hike through the boreal forest of Alaska's interior, right outside of Fairbanks!

To begin your husky hike near Fairbanks, you will first get to take a tour of the kennels where you will get to meet purebred Siberian huskies from the World’s Oldest Siberian Husky Kennel and see how owners Lisbet and Nils care for their sweet, hard working dogs! Once you choose the husky you want to hike with, you will then learn how to put a sled dog harness on them and get equipped with a husky hiking belt so that your husky will be attached right to you as you hike, helping you uphill!

The hike itself is a moderate 2-3 mile hike over uneven terrain. The beginning of the hike is uphill followed by a relatively flat portion, and then a downhill bit to end. The dogs will also pull you downhill, which can be hard on your back and knees – assistance and breaks can be included as necessary! You can also hike without a husky if you are not comfortable being attached to a four-pawed hiking buddy. The boreal forest itself, outside of Fairbanks, is a beautiful environment that is a treat to experience when visiting the arctic north, and there is no better way to see it than when accompanied by furry friends!

This Fairbanks kennel tour and husky hike is a great activity for the entire family, including kids! Children under 6 must stay outside of the dog-yard and dogs will be brought out to them, and those under 12 can only enter the dog-yard with a guardian. Small kids can also ‘share a dog’ with a parent during the hike. The team at Arctic Dog Adventures is happy to share their love of sled dogs with everyone while making the experience as safe and fun as possible!

Book your Fairbanks husky hike now for a fun and unique way to bond with sled dogs during their off season!
