The fun starts after you've been picked up by your experienced guide. You and your group (a maximum of 8 participants) will board the vehicle and depart for the 20 km (12 miles) drive to the picturesque and frozen lake. Upon arrival, you'll receive a safety and itinerary briefing, along with thermal suits and winter boots. Bundled up against the elements, you'll set off on the 5-minute walk through a snow-covered forest towards the lake.
Next, your guide will provide you with the ice fishing equipment along with an introduction to ice fishing and ice fishing techniques. If you wish, you can even help drill a hole through the thick ice! Casting your line into the icy waters, you may be lucky and reel in some of the fish native to the lakes of Finland such as white fish, perch, pike, brown trout, grayling, etc. During the tour, ice fishing from Rovaniemi, your guide will also share fascinating facts about Arctic nature and wildlife as well as the culture of Finnish Lapland.
