For your convenience, this glacier hiking and sightseeing tour also includes pick-up and drop-off from Reykjavík or Vík.
After closing the door to the Jeep, your adventure begins! En route to the Southern Coast, you'll take in the awe-inspiring panorama and catch a glimpse of the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. Upon arrival on the coast, you will stop to admire the majesty of the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Don't forget your camera!
Your journey continues to the charming village of Vík, where the tour will stop for a break as well as some food and refreshments (not included in the ticket price). Refreshed, you and your group will travel to Kötlujökull and the Katla glacier. After gearing up in a helmet and crampons, your experienced instructor will provide a safety briefing and go over glacier hiking techniques. Then, the fun starts! You'll explore this fascinating area, including its imposing ice mountains and glistening ice caves.
You also visit Hjörleifshöfði (also known as the "Yoda cave") and learn more about the history of the region and its original settlers. Last but not least, you'll drive towards the ocean to an amazing and remote black sand beach.

Practical information
- Pick-up in Reykjavík (it may take up to 30 minutes to collect the various participants)
- Approx. 1 hour 50 minutes by super jeep to Seljalandsfoss waterfall, then approx. 30 minutes to Skógafoss waterfall
- Stop off at Vík í Mýrdal (about 30 minutes' drive from Skógafoss) before heading to the Katla glacier and ice cave (about 40 minutes' drive from Vík)
- On to the Hjörleifshöfði cave (around 45 minutes' drive from the Katla glacier) and a small, secluded black sand beach
- Return by super jeep to Reykjavík (or Vík í Mýrdal, depending on your choice)
Hiking boots must be worn: it will not be possible to add the crampons required for the activity to other footwear.
It is very important to wear warm clothing, preferably waterproof, so that you can enjoy the excursion to the full.
