Glacier trekking is an activity not to be missed under any circumstances in Iceland, especially on one of the glacier tongues of the country's largest ice cap, Vatnajökull. Practical information

Course of events

- Meeting with the instructor at the Icelandic Mountain Guides base in Skaftafell

- Briefing on the tour, safety instructions and use of the equipment on loan

- Approach to the glacier in a special truck adapted to the terrain

- Start of the glacier hike (1.5 to 2 hours on the ice)

- Return to the meeting point in the lorry, return of equipment and end of the activity

Activity requirements

Please arrive 20 minutes before the start of the activity.

Hiking boots must be worn: it will not be possible to add the crampons required for the activity to other footwear.

It is very important to wear warm clothing, preferably waterproof, so that you can enjoy the excursion to the full.
