North of Mahebourg, discover a historic part of Mauritius by electric bike from Ferney, in a little-known corner of the island!

If you want to discover an authentic part of Mauritius, away from the tourist sites and with a local guide to accompany you, this electric bike excursion to Vieux Grand Port is the experience for you! From superb landscapes to touching encounters with local artisans, you will come away from this adventure with unique memories.

The meeting point will be in Ferney, north of Mahebourg, so you can cycle to your first stop, the Dutch ruins of Fort Frederick Hendrick. After this historic pause, you will head off to meet one of Mauritius's last "ranzer pirogs", a marine carpenter whom you can watch at work while sipping a refreshing homemade tamarind juice. Finally, the electric assistance of your bikes will take you easily to the village of Bois des Amourettes, nestling between Lion Mountain and Grand Port Bay. And if you take part in this electric bike tour of Vieux Grand Port at the weekend, you will also be able to drop in on request to see a workshop where traditional vacoas baskets are made, a precious skill that is sadly disappearing.

Back in front of the Falaise Rouge restaurant in Ferney, you can choose whether or not to have lunch at the restaurant (at your own expense) to round off your electric bike tour to Grand Vieux Port with some delicious Mauritian specialities. So, what are you waiting for to live a unique local experience in Mauritius thanks to this outing proposed by Explore Nou Zil?
