Bodø is a town and a municipality in Nordland county known for its excellent hiking and mountaineering terrain options, The Hidden Valley is in the Børvasstindane mountain range that cuts into the mountains between the mountain ridges Åselitindan and Falkflågtindan. The valley is surrounded by jagged peaks, all over 1,000 metres above sea level. Two of them, PerKalsa and Børtind, are favourites among the locals heading for a steep day hike. Bodø offers a broad selection of easier hiking tours for beginners as well as more challenging hiking routes. However, most of the routes remain well off the beaten track for most tourists.

Activity
Meeting your guide in the centre of Bodø, this full day hiking tour is organised according to overall group fitness - with the choice of a standard (8km) and extended (12km) routes available. From a starting point at 60 metres above sea level, follow your guide on this 6/8 hour walking tour to lake Åselivatnet 160 m through the Børvasstindane mountain range. Learn more about Nordland's unique topography defined by glacier movement and the myth and legend that surrounds the Hidden Valley, navigating challenging terrain as you savour the surroundings - taking lunch on the cliff ledge overlooking lake Åselivatnet.

Conditions
This trip is designed for beginners and intermediates. You should have some outdoor experience in walking and hiking before you arrive. The standard trip ends by the upper Lake Åselivatnet and traverses slightly hilly and rugged terrain. The extended trip includes a bit more rugged terrain and one particularly steep section. The total distance will range from 8 to 12 km.
