Evening Reindeer Sledding Trip in Tromsø with Local Dinner

This evening excursion departs from Tromsø, a renowned city in northern Norway, surrounded by beautiful scenery. On this reindeer sledding trip from Tromsø, you'll travel to a unique reindeer farm in the wilderness outside the city!

The adventure begins in Tromsø city centre, where you'll board a comfortable bus and be greeted by the knowledgeable guide. Then, you'll relax on the 25-minute drive to the camp, passing mesmerising views of fjords and mountains along the way. At the Sami camp, you'll be greeted by the local reindeer herders and introduced to the herd of over 300 reindeer! You'll have the opportunity to interact with and feed the magical creatures, before it's time for your reindeer sledding ride in Tromsø!

You'll get set up on the traditional wooden sled, seating two participants. Following the guide, the reindeer will lead you on a thrilling journey through the surrounding Arctic wilderness! The ride lasts for approximately 15-20 minutes, passing the breathtaking valley and coastline. After returning to the camp, you'll say goodbye to the reindeer and gather inside a lavvu (tent) for an immersive Sami experience!

To start, you'll enjoy a 3-course candlelit meal, consisting of local ingredients. Indulge in a cold smoked salmon starter, hot 'bidos' (reindeer stew) for the main, followed by hot drinks and dessert (vegan/vegetarian options are available). After eating, you'll learn about the unique culture, history and rituals of the local Sami people, the indigenous group of Scandinavia. You'll also get to listen to a traditional joiking performance (Sami folk music). The activity takes place under the inky Arctic sky and, if you're lucky, you may even spot the extraordinary Northern Lights! At the end of the excursion, you'll be transferred back to the starting point in Tromsø.
