Mont Ventoux: What to do when you get there?
A well-known step in the Tour de France race, Mont Ventoux’s summit is limestone without any vegetation or greenery, giving it the appearance of being covered in snow all year round.
On the northern face of the mountain, at the foot of Mont Serein (at an altitude of 1,445 metres) you’ll find a ski resort that was founded in the 1920s. This resort has 12 km of alpine ski slopes and 7 km of Nordic ski slopes.
Today the ski resort of Mont Serein offers many other activities as well as the winter sports, and the beauty of it all is that you’re far from large touristic crowds.
The dare devils amongst you can try zip-lining above the beautiful forest – getting a bird’s eye view. Talking of views from above, you can also go paragliding and experience the thrill of flying in the air.
In summer there are great tracks for mountain bikers. However, summertime also attracts hikers and trekkers, there are 3 main routes, GR4, GR9 and GR91. Both the biking and hiking tracks are a great way to see the exclusive protected fauna and flora of the mountain.
