Tadoussac: The Must-Do Activities

Tadoussac: What to do when you get there?

Discover what to do in Tadoussac! At the crossroads of the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, Tadoussac is a popular town in the world for its nautical activities, but especially for its boat trips to meet the whales!

The history of the small town of Tadoussac begins in 1600, when France sought to establish itself in North America and create New France. During the first exploration to the West, Pierre de Chauvin decided to transform Tadoussac into a fixed post. It was here that the first settlement in New France was built. A strategic trading point thanks to the junction between the St. Lawrence and Saguenay rivers, Tadoussac became an essential trading post in the region as well as a rich fishing spot. To facilitate travel, a lighthouse was built in the middle of the St. Lawrence River. The Haut-fond Prince is a 25m high lighthouse built in 1964 to help sailors identify the tide of the river.

Located northeast of Quebec City, Tadoussac is the mouth of the Saguenay River into the St. Lawrence River. At the foot of Mont Adéla-Lessard, the town enjoys an exceptional natural setting!

In touch with nature, Tadoussac has a green culture that respects the local ecosystem. To protect the fauna and flora that surround them, Tadoussac is concerned with the well-being of the animals and limits its pollution. A few years ago, the municipality decided to build a museum of marine mammals to raise awareness and encourage visitors to work for their protection. A town of tradition and exchange, the former French trading post emphasises sharing and the simple pleasures of life!
And for this, Tadoussac offers you to discover the town but especially the nature that surrounds it during unforgettable activities!

Known for its whale route, start your day with a boat ride to meet the whales that live in the St. Lawrence River. To stay on the water, grab your paddles and go kayaking or paddle boarding on the Saguenay Fjord! Back on dry land, go for a bike or fat bike ride to discover the dense forests of Quebec. If you are lucky, you will have the opportunity to meet bears and observe this impressive animal. In town, Tadoussac offers you the chance to try your hand at golf, to discover the region's rich heritage or to explore the national parks! To make the most of Tadoussac's exceptional setting, take to the skies to admire Quebec's magnificent landscapes during an aerial activity. Head to the Saguenay River and take off with a seaplane towards the coast of Tadoussac and the Moulin à Baude bay for an unprecedented panorama of the Fjord-du-Saguenay National Park and the dunes of Tadoussac! For a greater sense of freedom, take a paraglider and fly over the St. Lawrence River and Mont Adéla-Lessard.

Finally, when winter arrives and the snow covers Quebec, new activities are born. Typically Canadian, go for a dog sled ride through the forests and trails of the region to experience a moment out of time! In contact with the animals, enjoy a 100% Quebec activity and discover the local fauna covered with a white coat! If you prefer to go faster and feel great sensations, opt for a snowmobile ride, an activity that will delight young and old alike!

Now that you know everything about Tadoussac and what to do there, all that's left is to let yourself be tempted and book your favourite activities!

"Our guide was really great and explained everything we needed to know about the region and kayaking. We saw beluga whales in the distance, which made it a really nice trip."

We love to kayak and this experience didn’t disappoint. We kayaked but our guide also told us on a short hike to see a cabin with a gorgeous view. It was a nice break.
The guides, the equipment and the scenery were top notch! We appreciated the thorough instructions as we were inexperienced kayakers. Thank you for providing the English translations as well. It was quite a workout, but we loved every minute of it! The sunset was breathtaking!
