Valencia: What to do when you get there?
Valencia is a city located in eastern Spain, on the edge of the Balearic Sea. It's the 3rd biggest Spanish city behind Madrid and Barcelona, with so many places to visit and outdor activities to practice.
Ancient town founded by the Romans, Valencia was then occupied by the Moors and then reconquered by the Christians. You will then be able to discover a rich cultural and architectural heritage. Among the most popular tourist sites, you will see the Barrio del Carmen and its medieval palaces, as well as the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences which is home to the Oceanogràfic, the biggest aquarium in Europe.
Bordered by the Balearic Sea, Valencia benefits from numerous beaches where you can practice a plethora of nautical sports. Sailing, sea kayaking, catamaran, flyboarding or even a jet ski excursion are some of the numerous activities you can do.
For more thrills, go to the south in Playa de Gandía. Here, you will have the opportunity to practice surfing, kitesurfing, bodysurfing and windsurfing.
If you wish to explore the wonderful Mediterranean seabed, the best spot to go on an adventure dive is located in Cullera, about 40 km away in southern Valencia.
Nature lovers will have the chance to discover the Albufera de València Natural Park in southern Valencia. It is the biggest lake in Spain which is home to a great variety of fauna and flora, as well as unique seabird species that come to hibernate.
After an exhausted day filled with emotion, don't forget to try the typical Valencian dish, the famous paëlla!
